This beginner belly dance workshop is a playful, welcoming exploration of movement from slow and fluid to sharp and percussive, from fingertips to toes. We'll wear coin scarves, and explore with flowy veils as we move to music from around the world and discover how expressive and fun this dance form can be. No experience needed, just comfortable clothes and curiosity. Think you’re not a dancer? Not the type to belly dance? Think again! This rich cultural dance is done by young and old across the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey, and Greece. It’s accessible, fun, and a great way to connect with your body in a new way.
Amalia is a Philadelphia-based belly dance performer and instructor who has been teaching and performing throughout the region since 2004. Her classes are infused with a strong emphasis on community, confidence, and joy of movement. She loves teaching students of all abilities and ages.
